Frequently Asked Questions.
Everything you need to know before joining the waitlist. Still have questions? We’re here to help.
What is Columnly?
Project management and invoicing built for video editing teams. It looks and feels like a spreadsheet, so there's nothing new to learn, but it calculates the money side for you and keeps the whole team on one shared source of truth.
When does it launch?
We're in active development now. Join the waitlist and you'll be among the first ones in when early access opens.
Is it only for video teams?
That's who we build for. Video shops bill in ways general tools choke on: flat retainers, per project, per deliverable, per revision, even per minute of footage. On the pay side it's per-deliverable rates, salaries and contractor costs, with the real margin on every job. We model all of that directly instead of making you bend a generic tool to fit.
Do I have to give up my spreadsheet?
No, that's the whole idea. You set your rates and pay once at the start, and from then on you just keep working in the spreadsheet the way you always have. Columnly runs your invoices and payments in the background off those rates, so the numbers just appear and stay right. You're never calculating anything or typing in a dollar figure yourself. You do the work, and the money follows
How does the project management work?
Everyone gets their own clean spreadsheet view, the same kind you already work in, scoped to their role. The producer or owner sees the whole operation, each editor sees just their assigned work and what it pays, and each client view holds only that client's projects. People can only see and edit what you've given them permission to, so the picture stays live and current without anyone seeing rates, margins or work that isn't theirs.
What will it cost?
We're still setting pricing, but it'll likely be free to start with. Join the waitlist to lock that in. Either way, waitlist members hear it first and get early-access terms.
What do I get for joining the waitlist?
First access when we open the doors, and since it'll likely be free to start with, joining now is how you lock that in. You also get a direct line to shape what we build, plus the early-access pricing when we announce it.
